Fingerspellathon

To celebrate Sign Language Week (18 – 24 March 2024) we have set ourselves a challenge - to do a Fingerspellathon!

Can you learn how to fingerspell the alphabet? If you’d like to try our challenge, we’d love you to ask family and friends to sponsor you and help raise money for our charity.

You could decide to learn to fingerspell the alphabet, fingerspell your name or even learn to fingerspell a list of words and raise money for each word spelt correctly.

Can you fingerspell your name?

Fingerspelling a set amount of words

Decide a list of words you will challenge yourself to learn – it could be the names of people in your family, words to do with school, your favourite foods, animals or the colours of the rainbow… it’s up to you! Decide how many you will learn and write them all down. Here’s the template you can download to use - see below.

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

To celebrate Sign Language Week this year, Norfolk Deaf Children’s Society have set me a challenge - to do a Fingerspellathon! Fingerspelling is used in BSL to spell out words like the names of places or people.

My Fingerspell Challenge:

I will learn to [fingerspell my name / fingerspell the alphabet / fingerspell x number of words] and I will try my best to fingerspell them correctly during Sign Language Week (18 – 24 March 2024). Please sponsor me to help me meet my challenge and raise money for Norfolk Deaf Children’s Society!

Norfolk Deaf Children’s Society

Norfolk Deaf Children’s Society is a small charity with a big run by parent volunteers who aim to celebrate deafness in our local community. We bring together deaf children, young deaf people and their families and run trips, activities and a monthly youth club especially for hearing impaired/deaf children in Norfolk. We are affiliated to the National Deaf Children's Society but rely on donations and fundraising. Every donation helps us bring families together to meet other deaf children and adults, share their experiences and advice, support each other - and have fun!
